Musical celebration brings wards together

MONTPELIER, VT. — Community involvement brought together several northern Vermont wards of the Montpelier Vermont Stake of the Church with their neighbors in two musical settings Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001.

The Burlington and Essex Wards presented "A Musical Celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ" in the Burlington chapel attended by 160.

Lyndon Ward hosted the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, South Congregational Church, Lyndonville First Congregational Church and Grace United Methodist Church for their fifth annual Festival of Choirs attended by 300. Combined choirs, including Lyndon Ward, numbered 90 singers and filled the chapel choir loft fully for an impressive joint Hallelujah Chorus.

Prior preparation of the meetinghouse for visitors included displays by Young Men, Young Women and Relief Society in the rooms where visiting choirs rehearsed. Dana Calkins directed and Suzy North accompanied. A Vermont television station videotaped the performance for later broadcast on public television either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
