LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — More than 30 members of the Ortega Ward, Menifee California Stake, donated their time and energy Nov. 9 to clean up the backyard of an elderly couple's home.

In cooperation with the City of Lake Elsinore, a local trash company provided a 20-foot long, eight-foot high trash bin to aid the volunteers. In just more than one hour, the group had cleared the yard of debris and filled the trash bin to capacity.

The service project stemmed from the community's "Fix It Together" program, created in 1996 by Elsinore Valley Community Action Planning and recently revived by the Lake Elsinore Rotary Club. The FIT program has three goals: to assist local senior citizens, to create positive relationships between seniors and youth and to show that a small group of people can make a big difference in a community.
