LDS-Gems to provide selections of scriptures

"You've got mail" has new meaning. As of Jan. 1, subscribers to LDS-Gems — the Church's free list service of daily inspirational quotations and weekly counsel from Church leaders — can receive selections from the scriptures.

Through E-mail, members in remote places stay connected with the Church as e-mail can be sent anywhere.

There are some 85,000 subscribers to LDS-Gems who learned of the service mainly through word of mouth. They receive daily inspirational quotes from Church leaders, as well as weekly counsel for youth and families.

Now subscribers can receive selections from the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price and the New Testament. (Old Testament is not yet available.) Selections, mailed five times a week, are grouped so that each book of scripture could be read cover-to-cover within a year. Readers can receive all three books of scripture or one at a time.

For further information or to subscribe to LDS-Gems, go to www.lds.org/gems. Subscriptions can also be done by E-mail. To subscribe to LDS-Gems without the scriptures, send a message to [email protected] with "subscribe lds-gems" (without quotes) in the message body.

To receive selections from the Book of Mormon, write "subscribe lds-gems-bofm" in the message body.

For Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, type "subscribe lds-gems-dandc"; for New Testament, type "subscribe lds-gems-nt."

Subscription requests can be sent before Jan. 1.
