New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new leaders and their wives are:

Darl Jay Andersen, 54, Mesa 20th Ward, Mesa Arizona Maricopa North Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former bishop, high councilor, stake Young Men president, ward mission leader and elders quorum president. Senior vice president of Bashas' Inc. Born in Mesa, Ariz., to Darl Edwin and Erma Farnsworth Andersen. Married Kaye Layton, nine children.

A ward Relief Society president, she is a former Primary teacher, Young Women president, stake Primary president's counselor, Primary chorister and Relief Society teacher. Born in Safford, Ariz., to LeRoy and Roberta LaFayette Nash Layton.

Dean Harold Curtis, 49, Oakwoods Ward, Kaysville Utah Crestwood Stake; Sunday School teacher; former bishop, member of stake presidency, Scoutmaster and district president. CEO and owner of Curtis & Associates Inc. Born in Murray, Utah, to Warren Dale and Dora White Curtis. Married Julie Ann Whittaker, nine children.

A family relations teacher in the Sunday School, she is a former seminary teacher, ward and stake Relief Society president, Primary teacher and stake Young Women president's counselor. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Don LeRoy and Lola Chamberlain Whittaker.

Timothy Sears Evans, 53, Oakley 2nd Ward, Kamas Utah Stake; gospel doctrine teacher; former high priests group leader, bishop, high councilor, stake executive secretary and counselor in bishopric. Dentist. Born in Alameda, Calif., to Sears Joseph and Joyce Orlob Evans. Married Melissa Cannon, five children.

Ward organist, she is a former Young Women president and counselor, Relief Society teacher, counselor in Primary. High school Russian teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edwin Quayle Cannon Jr. and Janath Russell Cannon.

President of JP Realty Inc. Born in Oakland, Calif., to Glenn and Helen Rex Frazier. Married Barbara Irene Walker, eight children.

A ward Relief Society enrichment night leader, she is a former Relief Society teacher, counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society president and teacher. High school teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Reed L and Irene Brinton Walker.

Sister Lewis is a former Young Women president's counselor and adviser, Primary president's counselor and teacher, and Cub Scout leader. Social worker and therapist. Born in Washington, D.C., to Joseph Irel and Bessie Collins Hart.

A ward Relief Society president, she is a former seminary teacher, Primary counselor and teacher, and inservice teacher. Born in Long Beach, Calif., to Bruce Joseph and Betty DeKarver McDermott.

A Primary chorister, she is a former Achievement Day leader in Primary, Relief Society teacher, and choir director. Born in Murray, Utah, to Kenneth Joseph and Gwendolyn Seely Goates.
