AKOTO LANTE, Ghana — LDS Charities and local members and missionaries worked with the Anglican Health Professional Guild in sponsoring a medical clinic here Feb. 8. According to Bobby Ash-Quaynor, a multi-stake public affairs council member, some 450 people were registered by 10:30 a.m. and the clinic lasted until late that afternoon. Helping at the clinic were doctors, pharmacists and nurses from Korle-Bu or Mamprobi Polyclinic. Four missionary couples helping at the clinic were Elder Keith Merrill, a physician and the Africa West Area medical adviser, and his wife, Sister Diane Merrill; and Sister Marjorie Darlington, a nurse by profession who is serving with her husband, Elder Neil Darlington.
Dr. Gladys Ashitey, president of the Anglican Health Professional Guild, said, "If we could get sponsorship, we would do this every weekend."
