Cleanup after cancer fund-raising event

EUREKA, Calif. — Service for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fund-raiser has become an annual event for the Eureka 1st Ward, Eureka California Stake. For the fifth year in a row, ward members gathered to clean up after the relay at the community's College of the Redwoods.

Members of the Eureka 2nd Ward have also joined in the effort, which more than 50 volunteers completed in only two hours July 17. The project included breaking down tents and shelters, storing signs and equipment, and cleaning up the football field and surrounding areas where participants gather and camp during the 24-hour walking relay.

The chairman for this year's relay was Bruce Hancock of the Eureka 1st Ward, who has lost three family members to cancer.
