Army Ranger Hall of Fame

FORT BENNING, Ga. — John A. Acker, Sr., who was a member of the Bessemer Alabama Stake, was posthumously inducted into the United States Army Ranger Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Ga. Brother Acker, who died in 1993, joins the less than 200 members of this elite fighting force who have been enshrined for their patriotism and bravery in defending his country. He served with Merrill's Marauders in Burma during World War II.

Brother Acker served a mission in the Washington D.C. Temple for 4 years, three months and 13 days in order to serve the Lord for the same length of time that he served his country. Later he served as second counselor in the original temple presidency at the Atlanta Georgia Temple.
