Searching mountains for lost Scout

UINTAH MOUNTAINS, Utah — An LDS Scout from Salem, Utah, was lost Aug. 20 during a ward-sponsored camping trip in northern Utah, prompting a search by hundreds of volunteers from the boy's ward and stake, along with professional rescue workers.

Garrett Bardsley, 12, had been fishing in Utah's High Uintas when he headed back alone to camp to get dry shoes, according to the Deseret Morning News. At press time, he had not been found, although searchers reportedly found one of the boy's socks Aug. 25.

Friends, fellow Church members, search and rescue teams and others have spent days searching the rocky, heavily wooded mountain terrain where the boy disappeared, the newspaper reported.
