Celebrating Prophet's birthday

FULLERTON, Calif. — Observance by the Fullerton California West Institute of Religion of the bicentennial of the birth of the Prophet Joseph Smith began with a series of events the first week of December. The bicentennial will be Dec. 23, 2005, 200 years after Joseph Smith's birth in Sharon, Windsor County, Vermont.

Events included a dinner on Dec. 3, featuring a talk by Joseph Bentley, a retired attorney and local authority on the Prophet; lunch forums and a readers' theater presentation about Joseph Smith. The institute includes students of Fullerton College, the oldest junior college in California.
