French members send aid

LAAYOUNE, Morocco — LDS students and their CES instructors in the institute in Lyon, France, purchased and assembled 50 hygiene and 50 education kits, which were distributed among orphans in a refugee camp on the Algerian-Moroccan border during mid-May.

Ms. El Azza Essalami, president of the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children and a crusader for the welfare of refugee children in southern Morocco, made the request for assistance with the public affairs missionaries in Geneva, France.

After arriving in the Agadir airport, and following a 12-hour van ride through the western Sahara, the public affairs missionaries presented the kits to the needy children in the city of Layoune, some 300 miles to the south.

Over the years, other donations by Church members have included caravans of foodstuffs, hygiene and newborn kits and other supplies transported across the Sahara to the Saharouis refugees.
