Observance brings positive reaction

COLUMBIA, Md. — Early reaction to an Independence Day celebration sponsored by the Columbia Maryland Stake indicates high local appeal and a desire by the community to continue the celebration.

The observance was held July 2 in the stake center and brought together 350 participants from several local congregations and non-religious groups in song and prayer. Reaction by the participants was universally positive, said President Clarence E. Johnson of the Columbia stake. Several participants, including a local minister whose congregation did not participate, expressed a desire to participate in next year's observance, he said.
