BYU-Hawaii renames business school

LAIE, Hawaii — BYU-Hawaii recently renamed its business school the Mark and Laura Willes Center for International Entrepreneurship. The renaming occurred during a commemorative dinner Sept. 1 during which Brother and Sister Willes were honored.

"We're so grateful for this honor, but we don't claim it as our own," Brother Willes said at the ceremony.

Brother Willes is chairman of the board for the Polynesian Cultural Center and chairman of the President's Leadership Council, which serves as the fund-raising arm for the PCC and the Willes Center. He retired as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Times Mirror in April 2000. In addition, he served as publisher of the Los Angeles Times from October 1997 to June 1999. He also served as president and chief operating officer of General Mills, Inc., and president of the Federal Reserve Bank.
