Choir at Commonwealth Games

MELBOURNE, Australia — Samoan members of the Hampton Park Ward in the Melbourne Australia Pakenham Stake were invited to perform at the Commonwealth Games Premier Multicultural Awards night the end of March after their talent was recognized by a member of Parliament. George Lekakis, chairman of the multicultural awards program, invited the choir to take a place at the event after he watched one of its performances. He also observed 20 of the Hampton Park Ward's youth perform traditional Samoan dancing, and invited them as well to perform at the awards night. At the event, the performers were introduced as Church members and an explanation was given of the song the performed, "Love at Home."

Following the choir's performance at the awards night, a subsequent invitation was extended for the choir to perform at an Interfaith Network Annual Gathering.
