Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized. . . . 3 Nephi 12:2
There was a time that I needed the Spirit, when I had to decide whether joining the Church was a correct decision or something that would haunt me the rest of my life. Growing up Jewish, conversion was unthinkable and believing in Christ was unheard of, and could be cause for elimination from the family circle.
The more studying and preparation accomplished the more my interest peaked. Fortunately for me, there was a very patient returned missionary from Samoa named Greg who shepherded me to learn more and attend more meetings, both social and informational. It all would have been for naught, except one night I came across the scripture in 3 Nephi 12:2. It hit me like a lighting bolt that I wasn't humble and needed baptism.
Thirty-three years later I thank God each day for the miraculous feeling and spiritual experience that occurred years ago when the scriptures changed my life. It was evident to me that the Book of Mormon was true, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, Jesus was the Christ and Harold B. Lee was the present prophet in 1973. What exquisite joy I felt, and what exquisite relief to know that I had found the true purpose of life. I'm thankful for the true Church and its true philosophy of life. Thanks be to God for the Holy Scriptures. Joel Marks, Medford, Ore.
