ADELAIDE, Australia More than 80 youth from three Adelaide stakes in South Australia gathered this spring for a Priests and Laurels Convention. Commencing with a social activity, the youth gathered at the Firle Australia Stake Center for formal dance instruction, get-to-know-you games and a light supper followed by a dance.
The next morning, the youth gathered on the banks of the Murray River at Murray Bridge for a service activity at Avoca Dell, a popular recreation reserve. The owners of the wetlands allow public access to the area which is a significant part of the local river ecosystem. The youth assisted the residents by thinning reeds to provide extra water flows, pulling weeds, pruning trees and replacing car parking bollards. Many of the youth expressed that this service activity was the highlight of the convention. After an evening meal at the reserve, the youth gathered at the Murray Bridge chapel for a fireside and testimony meeting.
