Helping children in Iraq

RICHMOND, Va. — Members of the Church here joined those of other faiths for "Operation Iraqi Children" during the recent NAIN Connect 2007 Conference. NAIN stands for North American Interfaith Network, a coalition of more than 65 interfaith organizations from Canada, the United States and Mexico. Gathering July 13-14, participants assembled school kits and packed them in boxes for shipping, which is being handled by FedEx and People-to-People International.

Operation Iraqi Children is a program that enables Americans to send school supply kits to Iraqi children. "An eraser, a pencil and a notebook are items that we take for granted every day, but they are precious gifts to a child living in a war-torn area," said Sandy Willis, a member of the local interfaith organization representing the Church.
