Church member claims silver medal

BEIJING, CHINA

Lacey Nymeyer of the Tucson University 1st (Student) Ward, Tucson Arizona North Stake, joined with her teammates swimming to the Summer Olympics silver medal in the 4x100 freestyle relay on Aug. 10.

Her Olympics dream (see Church News, Jan. 26, 2008) was fulfilled when she qualified for the U.S. team this summer. She also competed in the 100-meter freestyle in Beijing.

Lacey anchored the U.S. team, which won its heat by less than a tenth of a second over the Netherlands. In the finals the following day, the world-record-holding Netherlands foursome took the gold by just over half a second.
