Living by the scriptures

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." — John: 14:27

A few years ago, my son and his family were traveling home from Oregon to Idaho. It was the middle of the winter, and I knew that they were coming through the mountains of Oregon. It was a very stormy, wintry day. The time had passed when they were supposed to arrive. I was getting extremely nervous.

I went in to our living room and knelt down to pray. The time continued to pass and they had not arrived. The third time that I knelt, I heard a voice saying very clearly to me: "Peace I leave with you my peace I give unto you."

It was so real that I stood and turned to see who it was. As I did so, the most warm, peaceful feeling went through my body from head to toe. I knew then that it was my Father in Heaven answering my prayers. I knelt back down and thanked Him for being there for me in my hour of need. I had no more worries, even though it was some time later before they arrived.

This has been a favorite scripture of mine for some time. Anytime that I have concerns of any kind, I think of this experience, which continues to give me comfort. I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers.
