New mission presidents

Seven mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1, 2009. Their mission assignments will be announced later.

Alan Lee Archibald, 57, and Pamela Jo Banning Archibald, four children, Bloomington 6th Ward, Bloomington Utah Stake. President Archibald is president of the St. George Utah College 1st Stake and is a former bishop and counselor, high councilor, counselor in a stake Young Men presidency, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Oregon Mission. Retired automobile franchise owner. Born in Brigham City, Utah, to Clain and Carma Archibald. Sister Archibald is a ward Relief Society teacher and a former ward Relief Society president, counselor in ward Young Women and Primary presidencies and Cub Scout leader. Born in Los Angeles, California, to James Willis and Ruth May Banning.

Edgar Lopez, 51, and Rosa Elisa Lopez, five children, Guarenas Ward, Guarenas Venezuela Stake. President Lopez is a stake president and a former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, branch president and elders quorum president. Manager of human resources for the Church. Born in Bogota, Colombia, to Lorenzo Lopez Acuna and Teresa de Jesus delgado Funquene. Sister Lopez is a ward Young Women president and a former ward Relief Society president, stake family history consultant, ward Primary president and nursery leader. Born in Cundinamarca, Colombia, to Luis Bustos and Maria Leonor Hernandez.

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Nechiporov, 48, and Elena Vasilievna Nechiporova, two children, Rechoi Branch, Moscow Russia District. Brother Nechiporov is serving in the district presidency and is a former branch president and counselor, district president and counselor in the Russia Moscow Mission presidency. Welfare manager in the Europe East Area for the Church. Born in Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov, Russia, to Aleksandr Konstantinovich and Valentina Sergeevna Nechiporov. Sister Nechiporova is a branch Relief Society president and is a former branch Primary president and branch and district Relief Society president. Born in Susuman, Russia, to Vasily Sergeevich Spiridonov and Vera Andreevna Spiridonova.

Craig Winger Simpson, 54, and Margaret Ann Simpson, five children, Iona 7th Ward, Iona Idaho Stake. Brother Simpson is a former counselor in the stake presidency, bishop and counselor, high councilor, institute teacher and missionary in the England Birmingham Mission. Attorney, Simpson & Gauchay. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Orval D. Simpson and Lora Jean Winger. Sister Simpson is a counselor in the ward Primary presidency and is a former ward Relief Society and Young Women president and Cub Scout leader. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Neil Burke and Helen Cartwright.

Alin Spannaus, 47, and Andrea Munoz Spannaus, two children, Pilar Ward, Buenos Aires Argentina Escobar Stake. Brother Spannaus is a bishop and a former bishop and counselor, counselor in the Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission presidency, stake president, high councilor and missionary in the Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission. Area Physical Facilities manager in the South America South Area for the Church. Born in San Martin de los Andes, Argentina, to Fernando and Iris Myfanwy Lloyd Spannaus. Sister Spannaus is a gospel doctrine teacher and a former ward Primary, Relief Society and Young Women president, seminary teacher and missionary in the Argentina Resistencia Mission. Born in San Fernando, Argentina, to Carlos Alberto Munoz and Elida Menicucci.

Loren Blake Spendlove, 51, and Tina Wilson Spendlove, five children, Geneva Heights 9th Ward, Orem Utah Geneva Heights Stake. Brother Spendlove is a former missionary in the Mozambique Maputo Mission, elders quorum president, gospel doctrine teacher, stake missionary and missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre Mission. Owner, Mandarin House, LLC. Born in Provo, Utah, to Lyle Bart and Marjorie Louise Yates Spendlove. Sister Spendlove served with her husband in the Mozambique Maputo Mission and is a former ward Primary teacher, ward Sunday School teacher and ward Primary music leader. Born in St. George, Utah, to Laron Berry and Julia Fish Wilson.

Charles Wesley Walton, 59, and Lizabeth Wood Walton, four children, Los Gatos Ward, Saratoga California Stake. Brother Walton is serving in the stake presidency and is a former bishop and counselor, high councilor, stake executive secretary and missionary in the Brazil Central Mission. Manager and attorney for DKB Homes. Born in San Jose, California, to Wesley Kimball and Lois Dolores Dahlin Walton. Sister Walton is a seminary teacher and a former stake and ward Primary president and counselor, ward Young Women president and counselor, ward Primary music leader and ward Relief Society teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ray H. and Ann Aylett Wood.
