"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise." Alma 37:6
Ever since I can remember, I have loved the hymn "There Is Sunshine in My Soul." I always would have it playing out in my mind, or I would be humming or singing it. I actually felt as there was and is "sunshine in my soul."
This past year I have had the opportunity of spending some quality time with some people my age that had never had the opportunity of feeling "sunshine in their soul." Due to their differences, many of my peers avoided them. One day a fellow peer asked me why I loved being around them, and without hesitation I commented that I wanted to bring a little sunshine into their non-sunshine days. After I said that, I found myself thinking, "That was lame."
The day came for me to say good-bye to my new-found friends and as I entered their space, their faces lit up and huge smiles spread across their faces. I remember just taking a moment to absorb their sunshine and thank Heavenly Father for allowing me to share some sunshine with them through smiles and simple acts of kindness.
