New mission presidents

Seven new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1, 2009.

Simon Yue-Sang Chan, 60, and Isabel Kit-Fong Chow Chan, four children, China Hong Kong Mission; Shatin Ward, Hong Kong Tolo Harbour Stake. Brother Chan is a sealer in the Hong Kong China Temple and counselor in a bishopric and is a former stake president, bishop, branch president and counselor in the Hong Kong temple presidency. Retired chief inspector of police, Hong Kong SAR Government. Born in Guangzhou, China, to Siu Kee and Woon Kiu Chow Chan. Sister Chan is a stake Relief Society president and is a former assistant to the matron in the Hong Kong temple, counselor in the stake Young Women presidency, stake and ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president and seminary teacher. Born in Hong Kong to Huen and Ming Hee Lau Chow.

William Thornley Evans, 64, and Jan Child Evans, six children, Massachusetts Boston Mission; Springwood Ward, Bountiful Utah Orchard Stake. Brother Evans is an Aaronic Priesthood adviser and is a former stake Young Men president, high councilor, bishop, high priest group leader and missionary in the North British Mission. Assistant Attorney General, State of Utah. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard Louis and Alice Ruth Thornley Evans. Sister Evans is a counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency and is a former counselor in stake and ward Young Women presidencies, gospel doctrine teacher, institute teacher and ward Primary pianist. Born in Nyssa, Ore., to Junior Wright and Joan Elizabeth Spratley Child.

Gary King Griffiths, 52, and Laura Jo Grisham Griffiths, six children, Scotland Edinburgh Mission; River 6th Ward, South Jordan Utah River Stake. Brother Griffiths is a ward Young Men secretary and is a former bishop, high councilor, ward Young Men president, gospel essentials teacher and missionary in the Italy Padova Mission. Partner, Western States Lodging. Born in Provo, Utah, to Hugh Darrell and Mary Bernice King Griffiths. Sister Griffiths is a former ward Young Women president and counselor, counselor in a stake Young Women presidency, ward Primary president and counselor, ward Primary chorister and ward enrichment leader. Born in Van Nuys, Calif., to Richard Earl and Judith Anne Padovich Grisham.

William King Jackson, 52, and Ann Kesler Jackson, eight children, India New Delhi Mission; Alice Springs Branch, Northern Territory Australia District. Brother Jackson is an Area Seventy and is a former bishop, counselor in a district presidency, district Young Men president, seminary teacher and missionary in the Bolivia La Paz Mission. Regional medical officer for the U.S. State Department. Born in Washington, D.C., to Edward William and Lois Audrey King Jackson. Sister Jackson is a former district and branch Relief Society president and seminary teacher. Born in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Jack White and Roma Brown Kesler.

John Charles Ogden, 63, and Judith Lucille Tibbitts Ogden, six children, England Birmingham Mission; Paradise Valley Ward, Paradise Valley Arizona Stake. Brother Ogden is a stake president and is a former bishop, high councilor, elders quorum president, stake mission president and seminary teacher. Retired president and chief executive officer, SunCor Development. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to John Herbert and Lillian Elsie Beurrier Ogden. Sister Ogden is a counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency and is a former ward Young Women president, ward Relief Society president, stake family history consultant and ward Primary teacher. Born in Long Beach, Calif., to William Ronald Tibbitts and Lucille Ashbaker.

Gregory Mark Saylin, 40, and Jennifer Ashleigh Hilbig Saylin, six children, Texas Houston South Mission; Woodbriar Ward, North Salt Lake Utah Stake. Brother Saylin is a counselor in the stake presidency and a former high councilor, elders quorum president, ward executive secretary, ward mission leader and missionary in the Argentina Rosario Mission. Partner, Double G Development, Inc. Born in Torrance, Calif., to Brian Geoffrey and Rose Marie Saylin. Sister Saylin is a ward Young Women adviser and a former ward Relief Society president and teacher, counselor in ward Young Women presidencies, Primary music leader and missionary in the England Bristol Mission. Born in Duarte, Calif., to Keith Karlton and Susan Rae Hilbig.

Kenneth Musser Woolley, 62, and Athelia Tanner Woolley, seven children, Russia Moscow West Mission; Holladay 4th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay South Stake. Brother Woolley is a ward Young Men president and is a former bishop, high councilor, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the British Mission. Chief Executive Officer, Extra Space Storage. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Kenneth Gaynes and Florence McCune Musser Woolley. Sister Woolley is a ward Relief Society teacher and is a former ward Relief Society president, member of the Primary General Board, member of the Young Women and Young Men Writing Committee, ward young Women adviser and missionary in the French East Mission. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Coats Tanner Jr. and Athelia Sears Tanner.
