"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." — Malachi 3:10
Before my eternal companion passed away, life went well for us. But after his death in 2006, things changed and hard times beset me. At times I thought that the Lord had really forgotten me!
I paid tithing as often as I could but it seemed that in spite of it my problems seemed to be on the increase. Then one brother at Church challenged me to read and act upon the scripture found in Malachi 3:10 and Nephi 24:10. I did, and decided to pay tithing regularly regardless. The next Sunday I paid my tithing, although I could hardly afford it, but I had promised to do it. I never doubted and my faith remained strong.
At that time, my old car needed a starter to be repaired and a very dear brother and sister paid for the repair. A few months later, again after I paid my tithe, a belt broke, and a good man repaired it. When I asked how much the repair would cost he said, "No charge." Surely, the windows of heaven had opened for me.
Then, yet another trial occurred with the clutch of my car. Again, a nice man towed my car to his place of business to repair it. This time, unbeknownst to me, my only living sibling came to the rescue to repair the clutch in my car.
I testify of the living God and Jesus Christ who invited me to "prove Him herewith." I testify also of home and visiting teachers' unselfish love and diligence whenever called upon. Another blessing from the windows of heaven. I know now that tithing does open blessings untold.
