New Mission Presidents

Seven mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1.

René Rodolfo Alba, 61, and Kathleen Tenney Alba, six children, Paper Mill Ward, Roswell Georgia Stake. Brother Alba, a counselor in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission presidency, is a former counselor in a stake presidency, stake Young Men president, stake mission president, bishop, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Taiwan Mission. Business development executive, OEM Sales Asia Pacific. Born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to Bartolo and Angela M. Alba.

Sister Alba serves as a Relief Society and Sunday School teacher and is a former stake Relief Society president, area public affairs/events specialist, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency and a seminary teacher. Born in Dallas, Texas, to Lynn Harry and Maude Tenney.

Gregory Sherman Brinton, 61, and Sally Peterson Brinton, seven children, Federal Heights Ward, Salt Lake Emigration Stake. Brother Brinton serves as ward Young Men secretary and is a former stake mission president, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, high councilor, ward mission leader, elders quorum president, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Japan Mission. Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, Retina Associates of Utah. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Sherman Simons and Bonna Ashby Brinton.

Sister Brinton, a gospel doctrine teacher, is a former enrichment leader, choir director, ward Primary president, stake music chairman, Young Women achievement leader, stake Young Women president, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency and stake missionary. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Phil Lester and DeVota Mifflin Peterson.

Ralph Neil Christensen, 60, and Teresa Tibbitts Christensen, nine children, Elk Hollow Ward, North Salt Lake Utah Stake. Brother Christensen is a Primary teacher and is a former stake president, counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, ward Young Men adviser and missionary in the California North Mission (Spanish speaking). Managing director of the Church Human Resources Department. Born in American Falls, Idaho, to Lynn J and Ruth Arlene Christensen.

Sister Christensen serves as a ward Primary teacher and ward organist and is a former stake Relief Society president, stake Young Women president, counselor in a stake Primary presidency, ward Relief Society president and counselor, ward Young Women president and counselor and an early morning seminary teacher. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Keith Edwin and Olive Lucile Tibbitts.

Val Don Hawks, 56, and Julie Ann Olson Hawks, four children, Windsor 3rd Ward, Orem Utah Windsor Stake. Brother Hawks, a high councilor, is a former counselor in a stake presidency, stake Young Men president, stake young single adult institute teacher, bishop and missionary in the China Hong Kong Mission. Director, School of Technology, Brigham Young University. Born in Gooding, Idaho, to Verlyn Eugene and Grace Arlene Jorgensen Hawks.

Sister Hawks serves as a counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency and temple ordinance worker and is a former stake Young Women secretary, ward Relief Society president, ward Primary worker, counselor in a ward Primary presidency and counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Douglas Hall and Bonnie Marleen Anderson Olson.

William John Monahan, 58, and LuAnn Halversen Monahan, seven children, Seville Ward, Queen Creek Arizona Chandler Heights Stake. Brother Monahan, a high councilor, is a former stake president, stake public affairs director, stake Young Men president, high priest group leader and ward executive secretary. Sister Monahan serves as a ward Relief Society teacher and is a former counselor in a ward Primary presidency. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Stanley Reed and Darlene Noma Hipwell Halversen.

Edward Morris Swapp, 58, and Jayne Dearden Swapp, four children, Greenwood Village Ward, Denver Colorado Stake. Brother Swapp, a missionary in the Caribbean Area Office, is a former bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, stake Young Men president, stake mission president, ward mission leader, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Uruguay/Paraguay Mission. Retired vice president, retail marketing, Gary-Williams Energy Corp. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Morris Farnsworth and Afton McDonald Swapp.

Sister Swapp serves with her husband as a missionary in the Caribbean Area Office and is a former counselor in ward Primary, Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, ward Young Women president and Cub Scout leader. Born in Fillmore, Utah, to Boyd Beauregard and Edith Stott Dearden.
