New mission presidents

Seven new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1. Their mission assignments will be announced later.

Alan Henry Brown, 64, and Sylvia Mary Denholm Brown, six children, Kirkcaldy Ward, Dundee Scotland Stake. Brother Brown serves as an assistant area auditor, a ward mission leader, temple sealer and temple ordinance worker. He is a former patriarch and bishop. Retired owner of Denholm & Brown. Born in Methil, Fife, Scotland, to Henry and Sally Rae Brown.

Sister Brown serves as an assistant area auditor, temple ordinance worker and public affairs specialist. She is a former Relief Society president, Young Women president and ward magazine editor and producer. Born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, to James Andrew Denholm and Frances Amy Roberts Ireland.

John Reed Harding, 52, and Deborah Sue Brown Harding, five children, Heights Ward, Bountiful Utah Heights Stake. Brother Harding is a counselor in a stake presidency and is a former high councilor, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, Young Men president and missionary in the California Los Angeles Mission. Region practice leader, Franklin Covey. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Reed V. and Joyce B. Harding.

Sister Harding serves as a Relief Society music director and is a former stake Young Women athletic director, Primary president, Young Women president, Sunday School teacher and Young Women camp director. Born in Boise, Idaho, to Douglas Derald and Dorothy B Brown.

Thomas Bradey Morgan, 52, and Debra Joan Fisher Morgan, five children, Karalee Ward, Sandy Utah Granite South Stake. Brother Morgan is a Sunday School teacher and a former counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, Young Men president, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Illinois Chicago Mission. Regional president, Zion's Bank. Born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Donald Leslie and Shirley Jean Bradeyhoft Morgan.

Sister Morgan serves as a counselor in a Primary presidency and is a former Primary president, Primary teacher, Primary music leader, Sunday School teacher and Young Women adviser. Born in Washington, D.C., to Milton Byron and Ida Joan Fisher.

Blake Marshal Roney, 53, and Nancy Lee Watson Roney, eight children, Edgemont 8th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont South Stake. Brother Roney is a former stake Young Men president, stake president, high councilor, bishop, bishopric counselor, Sunday School teacher, Scoutmaster and missionary in the France Toulouse Mission. Chairman of the board, Nu Skin Enterprises. Born in Santa Monica, Calif., to Arden Ensley and Norma Jeane Roney.

Sister Roney serves as a counselor in a Young Women presidency and is a former Primary president and counselor, Relief Society teacher, Young Women adviser and nursery leader. Born in Dallas, Texas, to William James and Maurine Levora Watson.

Lowell Virgil Smith, 63, and Lynne Cutler Smith, five children, Union 2nd Ward, Sandy Utah Cottonwood Creek Stake. Brother Smith serves as a high councilor and is a former counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, Young Men president, elders quorum president and missionary in the Finland Helsinki Mission. Roberto Valadez Alvara, 48, and Angelica Alvarez de Valadez, four children, Agua Azul Ward, Puebla Mexico Valsequillo Stake. Brother Valadez serves as a young single adult adviser and is a former counselor in the Mexico Merida Mission, counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, counselor in a bishopric and missionary in the Mexico Mexico City North Mission. Sister Valadez serves as a young single adult adviser and is a former stake and ward Young Women president, counselor in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies, Relief Society president, Primary president and Sunday School teacher. Born in Mexico, D.F., Mexico, to Felix Alvarez Martinez and Hilda Govea de Alvarez.

Michael Lee Vellinga, 59, and Pamela Bodily Vellinga, eight children, Clinton 3rd Ward, Clinton Utah North Stake. Brother Vellinga serves as a high councilor and as a stake missionary preparation instructor. He is a former stake president, bishop, Sunday School teacher and missionary in the California Central Mission. Director of pre-service training, Seminaries and Institutes. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Clarence and Arlene Davis Vellinga.
