'A Night in Vienna' with the Orchestra at Temple Square

The Orchestra at Temple Square performed a concert, "A Night in Vienna," on Oct. 26 and 27, in the Tabernacle on Temple Square, featuring music of Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Strauss Jr. and Franz Lehár.

The evening's selections were "some of the best music" to come out of Vienna, Conductor Igor Gruppman said during his introduction.

During Haydn's "Farewell Symphony," orchestra members left the stage one by one in a reenactment of the original performance of the symphony.

Among other selections, Mozart's "Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E-Flat Major" featured Brother Gruppman on violin and his wife, Vesna Stefanovic-Gruppman, on viola. Soprano Melissa Heath sang the "Laughing Song" from Die Fledermaus and later, "Vilja Lied" from The Merry Widow, during which Brother Gruppman joined on his violin.
