New MTC presidents

Seven new missionary training center presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service early next year.

Dennis Gary Beck, 63, and Marsha Eileen Garside Beck, four children, South Jordan 8th Ward, South Jordan Utah Stake: Philippines Missionary Training Center. Brother Beck is a former president of the Philippines Manila Mission, counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop, ward Young Men president, Scoutmaster and temple worker. Retired USCG captain, attorney. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clifford Calvert and Ada May King Beck.

Sister Beck served with her husband in the Philippines Manila Mission and is a former Relief Society general board member, Relief Society teacher, ward Relief Society president, stake and ward Primary president, ward Young Women adviser, ward missionary, seminary teacher, institute teacher and temple worker. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Heber Blake and Elaine Leona Monson Garside.

Robert Geoffrey Dyer, 65, and Lynda Jean Hancock Dyer, 10 children, Olivenhain Ward, Del Mar California Stake: Colombia Missionary Training Center. Brother Dyer is a former president of the Texas McAllen Mission, temple sealer and ordinance worker, patriarch, stake president, high councilor and missionary in the North Argentine Mission. Attorney, born in Washington, D.C., to James Glenn and Nona Richards Dyer.

Sister Dyer served with her husband in the Texas McAllen Mission and is a former counselor in stake and ward Young Women presidencies, ward Relief Society teacher, ward Primary teacher, seminary teacher and gospel doctrine teacher. Born in La Jolla, Calif., to Lynn Young Hancock and Ada Bell Hiner.

Keith Reid Edwards, 70, and Judith Lee Higgins Edwards, seven children, River Ridge 8th Ward, South Jordan Utah River Ridge Stake: England Missionary Training Center. Elder Edwards is a former member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, Area Seventy, president of the Zimbabwe Harare Mission, stake president, bishop and missionary in the Florida Mission. Attorney, born in Las Vegas, Nev., to Elbert Bird and Mary Reid Edwards.

Sister Edwards served with her husband in the Zimbabwe Harare Mission and is a former temple ordinance worker, counselor in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency and stake missionary. Born in Las Vegas, Nev., to Clark Worthen and Mary Higgins.

James Phillip Freestone, 66, and Elizabeth Ogden Freestone, six children, Windsor 6th Ward, Orem Utah Windsor Stake: Dominican Republic Missionary Training Center. Brother Freestone is a former president of the Mexico Puebla Mission, counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop and missionary in the Brazilian South Mission. Physician, born in Mesa, Ariz., to James Russell Freestone and Virginia Hunter Harbaugh.

Sister Freestone served with her husband in the Mexico Puebla Mission and is a former stake Relief Society president and counselor, counselor in a stake Primary presidency and in ward Relief Society and Young Women presidencies. Born in Richfield, Utah, to Ralph Gerald and Lu Jeanne Ogden.

Lon Boyd Nally, 73, and Kaye Priday Nally, six children, Highland 15th Ward, Highland Utah East Stake: Provo Missionary Training Center. Brother Nally is a former counselor in the Provo MTC presidency, president of the Australia Perth Mission, stake president, counselor in a stake Young Men presidency, bishop and missionary in the New Zealand Auckland Mission. Retired regional manager, Phillips Petroleum. Born in Lordsburg, N.M, to Boyd Dale and Martha Orpha Bradberry Nally.

Sister Nally served with her husband in the Australia Perth Mission and is a former counselor in the Provo MTC Relief Society presidency, member of the Church Curriculum Committee, temple ordinance worker, stake Young Women president, stake Primary president and ward Relief Society president. Born in Cedar City, Utah, to Leland Forbes and Thelma Farnsworth Priday.

Carl Barton Pratt, 71, and Karen Ann Yeoman Pratt, eight children, Centennial Pointe Ward, Las Vegas Nevada Elkhorn Springs Stake: Mexico Missionary Training Center. Elder Pratt is a former member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, Area Seventy, president of the Spain Seville Mission, counselor in a stake presidency, stake mission president, counselor in a bishopric and missionary in the Argentine Mission. Attorney, born in Monterrey, Mexico, to Carl Barton and LaVerne Whetten Pratt.

Sister Pratt is a former stake and ward Young Women president, ward Relief Society president and counselor, and seminary teacher. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Elmer E. and Dorothy Johnson Yeoman.

Hori Teira Tarawhiti, 69, and Cairo Hawaikirangi Dennis Tarawhiti, Maynard Ward, Temple View New Zealand Stake: New Zealand Missionary Training Center. Brother Tarawhiti is a former service center manager in the Port Moresby Service Center, president of the Papua New Guinea Port Moresby Mission, counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, ward Young Men adviser and high priests group leader. Retired institute director and seminary coordinator. Born in Ngaruawahia, New Zealand, to Pehimana Hokio and Elsie Mihitaurangi Martin Tarawhiti.
