New mission presidents

Seven new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service in July.

James Morgan Dester, 56, and Annette Packer Dester, four children, Moss Hill Ward, Bountiful Utah Central Stake: Honduras San Pedro Sula West Mission. Brother Dester serves as a stake president and is a former counselor in a mission presidency, high councilor, bishop, MTC branch president, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Guatemala Guatemala City Mission. Senior vice president/chief operating officer, Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators. Born at Edwards AFB, Calif., to John Morgan and Alice McMurrin Dester.

Sister Dester serves as a ward Relief Society visiting teaching supervisor and is a former ward Primary and Young Women president, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency, and Sunday School and Primary teacher. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., to Merrill W. Packer and JoAnn Brinkerhoff Prue.

Guillermo Ignacio Guardia Arguello, 46, and Sobeida Del Carmen Petro Gómez Guardia, four children, Capacho Branch, San Cristóbal Venezuela Pirineos Stake: Venezuela Valencia Mission. Brother Guardia serves as a stake president and is a former counselor in a mission and district presidency, branch president and missionary in the Venezuela Maracaibo Mission. Manager, Suplyferca. Born in Caracas, Distrito Federal, Venezuela, to Guillermo Salustiano Guardia Almeida and Rosmary Arguello Diaz.

Sister Guardia serves as a stake seminary teacher and counselor in a branch Primary presidency, and is a former ward Relief Society, Primary and Young Women president and counselor in a ward Young Women presidency. Born in Santa Cruz del Zulia, Venezuela, to Pedro Jose Petro Vargas and Guadalupe de Jesus Gomez Marquez.

Abelardo Morales Mendez, 50, and Antonia De Wong Moreno Morales, four children, Mirador Ward, Monterrey Mexico Roma Stake: Mexico Reynosa Mission. Brother Morales serves as an Area Seventy and is a former counselor in a mission presidency, stake president, bishop and missionary in the Mexico Merida Mission. Physical facilities manager, Corporation of the Presiding Bishop. Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Jesus Morales Robles and Hermelinda de Morales Mendez.

Sister Morales has served as a stake Relief Society president and ward Relief Society and Primary president. Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Arturo Wong Alonso and Rutila Vda. De Wong Moreno.

Marshall Reid Pettijohn Morrise, 57, and Susan Lorraine Hall Morrise, six children, Lakeside 4th Ward, Provo Utah West Stake: Korea Seoul South Mission. Brother Morrise serves as a counselor in a ward Young Men presidency and a temple ordinance worker, and is a former stake president, stake Young Men president, bishop, ward Sunday School president and missionary in the Korea Pusan Mission. Sister Morrise serves as a Church-service missionary, temple ordinance worker and Primary music leader. She is a former regional Young Women camp director, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency, ward Young Women and Primary president and ward choir director. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Harry Giles and Beryl Elaine Hall.

Von Dean Orgill, 63, and Sherri Kay Ketchum Orgill, seven children, Laie 2nd Ward, Laie Hawaii Stake: California Irvine Mission. Brother Orgill is a former stake president, counselor in a mission presidency, stake mission president, bishop and missionary in the Tongan Mission. President and CEO, Polynesian Cultural Center. Born in Tooele, Utah, to Willis Leslie Orgill and Vearis Anderson Orgill Lisenbee.

Sister Orgill serves as a ward Young Women adviser and is a former Laie Hawaii Temple Rededication Historical Committee chairman, counselor in a stake Young Women presidency, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency and ward Primary president. Born in Casper, Wyo., to Ernest Eugene and Mona Rae Heaton Ketchum.

Charles Arthur Rudd, 56, and Annette Lancaster Rudd, six children, Sego Lily Ward, Sandy Utah Granite South Stake: New Zealand Hamilton Mission. Brother Rudd serves as a high councilor in a YSA stake and is a former stake president, stake Young Men president, bishop and missionary in the North Carolina Greensboro Mission. Owner/president, Beehive State Enterprises. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Glen Larkin and Marva Sperry Rudd.

Sister Rudd serves as a ward Relief Society president and ward choir pianist, and is a former ward Primary president, counselor in a ward Primary and Relief Society presidency, Beehive adviser and ward organist. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roy Bryant Lancaster Jr. and Ida Arvella Lancaster.

James Leo Toone, 58, and Karin Elizabeth Lauritzen Toone, eight children, Hillcrest 2nd Ward, American Fork Utah Hillcrest Stake: Arizona Tempe Mission. Brother Toone serves as a counselor in a stake presidency and is a former bishop, MTC branch president and missionary in the Samoa Apia Mission. Institute instructor/administrator. Born in Claresholm, Alberta, Canada, to Leo Eugene and Afton Marie Beazer Toone.

Sister Toone is a ward Relief Society visiting teaching supervisor. She served with her husband at the Provo MTC and is a former counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency and ward Relief Society and Young Women president. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Wilson Peter and Idona Ann Lauritzen.
