New temple president

A new temple president and his wife have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service later this year.

David Darrell Smith, 71, Plymouth Ward, Minneapolis Minnesota Stake, called as president of the St. Paul Minnesota Temple, succeeding President C. Kent Hugh. President Smith's wife, Colleen Jones Smith, will serve as temple matron. He recently returned from serving as a senior missionary in the Jamaica Kingston Mission. He has served as counselor in the St. Paul Minnesota Temple presidency, bishop, patriarch, high councilor and branch president. A retired senior vice president of U.S. Bank-Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was born in Portland, Ore., to Darrell Parry and Ada Delphine Smith.

Sister Smith recently returned from serving with her husband as a senior couple missionary in the Jamaica Kingston Mission. She has served as an assistant to the matron at the St. Paul Minnesota Temple, branch Relief Society president, ward Primary president and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Thomas David and Merie Hardman Jones.
