Church calls new member of Sunday School general presidency

The Church announced on June 12 the reorganization of its Sunday School general presidency.

Brother Tad R. Callister will continue as Sunday School general president. Devin G. Durrant, who had been serving since April 2014 as second counselor, has been called as first counselor.

Brother Brian K. Ashton has been called as second counselor in the general presidency to fill a vacancy created when Brother John S. Tanner, who had been serving as first counselor, was appointed as president of Brigham Young University-Hawaii.

Brother Ashton is completing his service as president of the Texas Houston South Mission, where he has served with his wife, Sister Melinda Earl Ashton, since July of 2012. The Ashtons are the parents of seven children.

Brother Ashton received a bachelor of arts degree from Brigham Young University and a master of business administration degree from Harvard University. He has worked as a business manager, an executive and a board member at various companies since 1998.
