This week on social: Beautiful photos of Sister Craven with new granddaughter, Elder Renlund and Bolivian Church member

A simple question from a little boy in Mexico City, travel logistics going wrong in Bolivia, the birth of a new grandchild and excitement for general conference coming up — all these and more led to posts on the social media accounts of Church leaders this past week.

In a Sept. 23 Instagram post, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke to those who feel they are “just not good enough,” they “fall so far short,” or “will never measure up.”

Children of God should not demean and vilify themselves, as that cannot make them into the people God wants them to become in eternity.

According to the post, Elder Holland said, “With a willingness to repent and a desire for increased righteousness in our hearts, I would hope we could pursue personal improvement in a way that doesn’t include getting ulcers or bulimia, feeling depressed, or demolishing our self-esteem. That is not what the Lord wants for children or anyone else who honestly sings, ‘I’m trying to be like Jesus.’ ”

After spending a week in a mountain cabin with her family, Sister Becky Craven , second counselor in the Young Women general presidency, said that living in sweat pants and wearing no makeup for seven days straight was “quite rejuvenating!”

According to a Sept. 27 Facebook post, the time in the fresh mountain air provided an opportunity for reflection on how much Heavenly Father loves His children. She expressed her gratitude for the amazing world in which she lives.

“But of all of God’s creations, the most beautiful of all are His children,” the post read.

Speaking of children, Sister Joy D. Jones, Primary general president, marveled at the strength and ability of the children and youth of the Church, according to a Sept. 23 Facebook post.

“They are eager to learn and ready to make a difference,” it read.

The post went on to mention that she and others have been working hard to develop a new initiative for children that will meet their needs.

Recently while in Mexico City, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles met a little boy and his father prior to a meeting. The boy gave the Apostle a big hug, then looked at him and asked, “Where is Jesus?”

According to a Sept. 27 Facebook and Instagram post, Elder Bednar replied, “Just like you are with your father, Jesus is with His Father.”

While Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was traveling on assignment to Bolivia, it seemed that everything that could logistically go wrong, did go wrong.

But, according to a Sept. 23 Instagram post, Elder Renlund also saw miracles come to pass and felt Heavenly Father’s love for His children in Bolivia.

“As my traveling companions and I prayed for direction and then watched miracles come to pass, I felt the immense love He has for His children in Bolivia. He knows them individually and wants to bless each of them,” the post read.

For Sister Michelle D. Craig, first counselor in the Young Women general presidency, the first weekend of April and October are some of her favorite “holidays.” Though the annual and semiannual general conferences might not be official holidays, they feel like holidays to her, according to a Facebook post on Sept. 28.

“I love the first weekend of every April and October when we are blessed to hear from living prophets and apostles. These two days of uplifting messages and music fill my soul,” the post read.

I love holidays—the music, the food, the traditions that surround each one. Two weekends each year, though not...

In a Sept. 23 post on Twitter, Elder M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, encouraged others to never hesitate to bear their testimonies with sincerity and love.

The Twitter account of Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles also shared a post about the importance of testimony and coming to know the Savior, on Sept. 26.
