Ward clerk is honored for 35 years of service

F. Dennis Thatcher, ward clerk for the Monument Park 4th Ward, Salt Lake Foothill Stake, was honored Sept. 10 for his three-and-a-half decades of service as clerk.

During a fireside celebrating the ward's 35th anniversary, Elder J. Richard Clarke of the Presidency of the Seventy presented a plaque to Thatcher, noting that the 82-year-old has served since the ward's organization, and is still going strong in his calling.He has served under six bishops.

"This is the Lord's work," the octogenarian explained, "and there's nothing more important in this work than people. What I do is keep track of people!"
