Search begins for Eagle Scouts within Church

The Boy Scouts of America has designated 1990 as the year of the Eagle Scout. Each troop nationwide – including those within the Church – will be encouraged to conduct a special celebration honoring past and present Eagle recipients.

To assist the BSA in identifying Eagle Scouts, Boy Scout Mormon Relationships officials are asking those who have earned the rank, or who know somebody who has, to notify the office by mail at 525 Foothill Blvd., Salt Lake City, Utah, 84113; or by telephone at (801) 582-6000.According to BSA statistics, 1 percent of all boys who join the Boy Scouts become Eagles, while in the Church, 6 percent to 10 percent of Scouts become Eagles, reported Robert Mills, Mormon Relationships director.
