New mission presidents

The First Presidency has announced the calling of six new mission presidents. They will be assigned to specific missions later and, along with their wives, will assume their positions around July 1. The mission presidents are:

Gustavo Alberto Barrios, 43, Le Reina Ward, Nunoa Chile Stake; regional representative, former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, and branch president; chief administrator of materials; received degrees in accounting from Superior Institute of Business and auditing degree from the University of Chile; born in Santiago, Chile, a son of Luis Alberto and Carmen Chavez Barrios; married Ana Cristina Lopez G.; five children. She is Primary president, former stake Primary president's counselor, Young Women president and secretary, Sunday School teacher, and Primary teacher; born in Chillan, Chile, a daughter of Alberto Rene and Olga Garces Lopez.

Julio Eduardo Chumbita, 41, Lanus East Ward, Buenos Aires Argentina Banfield Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, branch president, and ward Sunday School president; received biology degree from University of la Plata; Church Educational System coordinator; born in San Juan, Argentina, a son of Isaias Francisco and Olga Peralta Chumbita; married Viviana Mourelos; three children. She is gospel doctrine teacher, former stake Primary president and counselor, ward Relief Society president, and Young Women president; born in Remedios de Escalada, Argentina, a daughter of Jose Adelmar and Paula Agustina Botta Mourelos.

Allen Smith Farnsworth, 56, Lyn Rae Ward, Mesa Arizona Kimball Stake; regional welfare agent, former stake president and counselor, high councilor, stake executive secretary, bishop and counselor; dentist; received D.D.S. degree from Washington University School of Dentistry; born in Beaver, Utah, a son of Samuel Taylor and Elsie Kathleen Smith Farnsworth; married Barbara Lee Dalton; six children. She is Relief Society president's counselor, former stake Relief Society music director, ward Primary president and secretary, Relief Society teacher, ward music chairwoman, ward organist, and choir director; born in Cedar City, Utah, a daughter of Ambrose Alonzo and Bertha Pryor Dalton.

Jairo Massagardi, 42, Campinas 1st Ward, Campinas Brazil Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop's counselor; industrialist; born in Itu, Brazil, a son of Antonio and Margarida Prestes Massagardi; married Elizabeth Ienne; three children. She is stake Relief Society president's counselor, former ward Primary president, Relief Society president's counselor, Relief Society teacher, and genealogy teacher; born in Jundiai, Brazil, a daughter of Carlos and Tereza Chechinatto Ienne.

Leonardo Salinas Mina, 51, Binan 2nd Ward, Las Pinas Philippines Stake; stake patriarch, former mission president's counselor, stake president, high councilor, bishop, branch president, and district president; director of the Manila Institute of Religion; received bachelor's degree from Manuel L. Quezon University; born in Lupao, Philippines, a son of Irineo Doro and Melitona Salinas Mina; married Elma Alipio Padua; six children. She is Primary president's counselor, former Relief Society president, Young Women president, Sunday School teacher, seminary teacher, Relief Society teacher, and inservice leader; born in Tondo, Philippines, a daughter of Amando Hernandez and Angelina de la Cruz Alipio Padua Sr.

Eriberto Israel Perez C., 42, Quetzaltenango 5th Ward, Quetzaltenango Guatemala Stake; regional representative, former stake president and counselor, high councilor, temple worker, district president, and branch president; industrialist; studied at business school; born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, a son of Ricardo and Ignacia Citalin Perez; married Pilar Ulin; eight children. She is visiting teacher supervisor and former Primary president; born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, a daughter of Basilio and Saturnina Lopez Ulin.
