And it shall come to pass that he that asketh in Spirit shall receive in Spirit. – D&C 46:28.
I was to attend a regional conference priesthood leadership training meeting. Prior to the meeting, I thought I would read the scriptures to see if it would help me spiritually prepare to receive instruction from our priesthood leaders.
I opened my Doctrine and Covenants to where I had left off previously, and it happened to be Section 46. As I read this chapter, and especially verse 28, I was so impressed and touched, as this was an issue that I had particularly been struggling with. I often felt that I didn't have the Spirit with me, and I realized that I wasn't prayerfully asking for it.
I re-read the section and marked the verses that I felt I still did not fully understand. The time was gone, and I needed to leave for the meeting. I wondered if my interpretations were right and made a mental note to myself to speak with my stake president about it at a later time.
Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve spoke to us at the conference and gave us a great deal of valuable information. I was busy taking notes when Elder Hales asked the brethren to turn to the 46th Section of the Doctrine and Covenants. Elder Hales then proceeded to cover each and every verse of this section and answered the questions that I had pondered earlier. I cannot express in words the wonderful feeling of joy I had, for I was prepared to receive instruction and didn't even realize it.
I realized that I could become a better follower of the Savior if I would take more time to prepare myself for instruction from the Lord's servants, and this I have committed to do.
