On the bright side

Brother Bill Nelson was asked to speak at a sacrament meeting with the theme of dealing with adversity. He prepared a talk he entitled, "Why Bad Things Happen to Good People." Leaving home for Church on Sunday morning, he drove out of his neighborhood onto the main road. Through the morning mist, he noticed some flashing lights ahead on the other side of the street just before he ran into the tree which had fallen across the road, smashing his car. Fortunately he was unhurt, but he didn't make it to Church. The bishop and his counselors spoke that Sunday, with little preparation. Brother Nelson gave his well-prepared talk on the subject of adversity two weeks later. — Alf Gunn, Gig Harbor, Washington.
