ALAMO, Nev. — Settled by pioneers from Kanab in 1901, the southern Nevada town of Alamo celebrated its centennial with activities July 1-4. Among the highlights were two showings of the original musical production "A Mighty Tree," which told the story of the settling of Alamo. Cheryl Stewart Osborn of the Legacy Ward, Green Valley Nevada Stake, wrote the musical while Suzette Lytle Bruggeman of the Great Falls 4th Ward, Great Falls Montana Stake and a former resident of Alamo, composed the original songs. A cast of 60 members of the Church was directed by DeAnna Davis Anderson of the Sunny View Ward, Las Vegas Nevada East Stake.
Other activities included opening ceremonies in the Alamo Ward meetinghouse, a street dance, tours of the valley where Alamo is located, a parade and fireworks.
