Public tours new meetinghouse

DAVEYTON, South Africa — Community leaders and hundreds of residents attended an open house Nov. 10 for the new Daveyton Ward meetinghouse, Benoni South Africa Stake. Visitors were given a tour of the building and a lunch. Each room displayed the functions of each of the Church organizations. There were also various displays, such as on the employment resource center, family history research center, and various Church teaching programs. The local Daveyton Adult Choir performed for the event, singing several songs in English, Zulu and Sotho.

The next day, Sunday, Nov. 11, Elder Steven E. Snow of the Seventy and second counselor in the Africa Southeast Area dedicated the building and site. He said the building will be an asset to the community and a beacon of righteousness. "This building is here to strengthen families, comfort the members, teach about our Savior Jesus Christ, and it is for people of all ages," he said.
