New temple presidents

Richard and Barbara Winder

Richard W. Winder, 77, River Ridge 7th Ward, South Jordan Utah River Ridge Stake, called as president of the new Nauvoo Illinois Temple, which will be dedicated June 27, 2002. President Winder's wife, Barbara Woodhead Winder, will serve as temple matron. President Winder served as president of the Family and Church History Mission, Prague Czechoslovakia Mission and California San Diego Mission, as regional representative and stake president. He is a retired partner in Winder Dairy. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edwin Kent and Alma Cannon Winder. Sister Winder, Relief Society general president from 1984-90, is a former Relief Society general board member, national president of Lambda Delta Sigma and ward Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Midvale, Utah, to Willard Verl and Marguerite Hand Woodhead.

John J. Whetten of Colonia Juarez, Mexico, has been called as president of the new Asuncion Paraguay Temple, which will be dedicated May 19. His wife, Louise J. Whetten, will be temple matron. Their biographies will be published in next week's Church News.
