CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Church will operate a campground on the Mormon Trail in Wyoming after a state lease was approved. The lease for the 10-acre campground in Fremont County was approved unanimously by the Board of Land Commissioners made up of five top state elected officials, including Governor Dave Freudenthal. With the five-year lease, the Church wants to install fire rings, portable toilets and water wells at the campground, as well as fencing it to keep grazing cattle out. Last year, 12,000 trekkers pulled handcarts along the Mormon Trail from the Sweetwater River west to Church-owned Rock Creek Hollow.
