Donated ornaments cheer fire victims

POWAY, Calif. — Efforts by the Poway California Stake in conjunction with the area's Rotary Club helped restore some Christmas cheer to victims of the Cedar fire in Southern California. Those who lost their homes — and Christmas items — in the fire received replacements at a Holiday Boutique in the Rancho Bernardo Ward meetinghouse, according to Poway California Stake President David R. Clark.

The Rotary Club collected donations of Christmas ornaments, decorations and other items to replace what families lost in the fire. The Church helped collect more items — including 100 CDs donated by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir — and provided the meetinghouse for the boutique. President Clark said young women in the stake helped set up and provided the hosting.

Church members Merilee Boyack and Kathy Humberstone were key organizers of the event that helped about 80 fire-victim families, according to President Clark.
