Books delivered to Samoa college

GARDENA, Calif. — As part of his Eagle Scout project, Taupatiga O. Avei of Gardena Ward, Torrance California North Stake, collected 50 boxes of used library books this summer from local citizens and members and from local schools and public libraries. With the help of ward members, he boxed and prepared for shipping all of the books, and had them shipped to Samoa. In August, his family, including his grandparents, went to Samoa and delivered the books to Nu'uausala College, located in his grandfather's village. This school is run by the London Mission Society.

"They were so grateful for the books that they badly needed," said Taupatiga. "I was so happy to help and also happy for the opportunity I had to visit the homeland of my ancestors."
