PISCO, Peru — Dozens from the Pisco Peru Stake teamed up with missionaries from the Peru Lima South Mission, contributing a day of labor during Peru's recent national Day of Service.
After meeting for a short devotional, the members and missionaries traveled to downtown Pisco — located about 150 miles south of Lima — and spent the day cleaning the city's historic plaza.
The city provided the members with cleaning supplies. A heavy wind storm had left the historic plaza grimy and in need of a good scrubbing, said Elder Andrew Garlock.
"Right off the bat we got to work by sweeping, scrubbing, hosing and again sweeping until the entire plaza was clean," said Elder Garlock.
Besides cleaning the plaza grounds, the members and missionaries also washed a large statue in the plaza of South American hero Jose de San Martin.
