Oneida Stake Academy remembered

PRESTON, Idaho — Among the floats in the annual Festival of Lights presented here Nov. 26 was one representing the Oneida Stake Academy, a former local educational institution founded by pioneers. Among its graduates were two Church presidents, President Harold B. Lee and President Ezra Taft Benson, as well as Samuel Cowley, an FBI agent who became famous for his courage in fighting mobsters.

The recipient of some $300,000 in donations in 2004, the academy's building was moved to a location where it will be restored and returned to public service as a cultural center for Preston and Franklin County.
