ELKO, Nev. — Gwen Anne Thacker of the Elko 1st Ward, Elko Nevada West Stake, will be honored Oct. 15 in Washington, D.C., as the Distinguished Principal for the State of Nevada by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. She will be honored by the state in November in Las Vegas. Sister Thacker is going into her 17th year in school administration and her 38th year in education. She is principal of the Owyhee Combined Schools in Owyhee, Nev.
"We have the most important job there is, outside of the Church," Sister Thacker said of her profession. "Every profession depends on a sound education from their elementary, junior high and high school years."
