New Era special issue

Focus on Duty to God and Personal Progress programs

The September issue of The New Era will be dedicated to the young women Personal Progress and young men Duty to God programs. This special issue contains examples of how these programs affect the lives of the youth and also offers suggestions on how to accomplish the goals set forth in these Church programs.

“The youth of the Church have been given a great trust and mission,” said Elder Shayne M. Bowen of the Seventy. “Their participation in Duty to God and Personal Progress will help them fulfill their responsibilities and reach their full potential. We hope this issue will assist them in these efforts. This issue shares examples of young men and young women who have created plans to meet the needs of their families and communities.”

The hope is that this edition of The New Era will inspire the young men and young women to pull closer to the Lord as it helps them to prepare for the future.

“This special issue can also be a wonderful resource for parents and youth leaders to help young men and young women achieve their goals in Duty to God and Personal Progress,” he said.

“Anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the purposes of [the programs] will be well served to study this issue of The New Era,” Elder Bowen noted.

The inspiration to focus on these programs came more than six months ago. The edition will be a flip cover with 24 pages dedicated to Duty to God and the flip side dedicated to Personal Progress.

The New Era also asked young men what they admired most in the young women they see living the gospel and asked young women what they admired in young men who honor their priesthood. These notes are included along with the following:
