During the April 2023 general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson emphasized the need for peacemakers in today’s contentious society.
“As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to be examples of how to interact with others — especially when we have differences of opinion. One of the easiest ways to identify a true follower of Jesus Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people,” President Nelson said.
At the close of the conference, President Nelson announced the locations of 15 more temples to be built around the world.
Additionally during the conference, members sustained five new General Authority Seventies, a new Young Women general presidency and a new Young Men general presidency counselor. On Aug. 1, the new Young Women presidency will begin its service, and three General Authority Seventies will receive emeritus status.
