LDS Church releases promotional video for 'Be one' event

Following the announcement of the “Be one” event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the revelation on the priesthood, the LDS Church released a promotional video by the same title.

During the minute-long video, a narrator says that being angry, indignant and competitive, among other things, leads to division.

“We continue to separate, divide, go our own ways,” the narrator says. “When the one thing we really need — the thing that would help us see each other as God sees us — to grow more kind, to be more loving, to feel more whole, is to be one."

The video ends with an invitation to attend the First Presidency-sponsored event on June 1. The video description also includes a link to, which includes event details, stories of black Mormon pioneers, and other resources to learn about the history of blacks in the LDS Church.

The event commemorates 40 years since President Spencer W. Kimball announced that all worthy males, regardless of race, were eligible to receive the priesthood. The title of the event was inspired by Doctrine and Covenants 38:27 which reads, “I say unto you, be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.”
