This week on social: Twelve Apostles share President Nelson’s Italy Facebook post, add their powerful testimonies

Last weekend, the entire First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles were together for the dedication of the Rome Italy Temple and through various social media channels they expounded on their role as special witnesses of Christ.

On March 11, the Facebook account of President Russell M. Nelson shared an iconic photo of the brethren along with his testimony, which was then shared on his counselors’ and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles’ pages. Here’s how they testified of their knowledge “that God lives and Jesus is the Christ.”

The original post from President Russell M. Nelson on Facebook and Twitter included the quote, “The Lord stands at the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As modern-day Apostles of Jesus Christ, the message we share today is the same that Apostles shared long ago — that God lives and Jesus is the Christ.”

President Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, added to President Nelson’s message, speaking of his role as a modern-day Apostle who testifies of Jesus Christ.

On the Facebook page of President Henry B. Eyring, he shared his testimony of the Lord, adding that he is “a witness of the Resurrection of the Lord as surely as if I had been there in the evening with the two disciples in the house on Emmaus road. I know that He lives as surely as did Joseph Smith when he saw the Father and the Son.”

Elder M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, spoke of “experiences too numerous and too sacred to discuss.”

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s Instagram account shared a video showing the Apostle in front of the Rome Italy Temple. He spoke of the important role of the new building, which he called “the most important building in all of Rome.” The post on Elder Holland’s Facebook account shared his testimony of prophets, seers and revelators who constitute the “ongoing foundation” of Christ’s Church.

Elder David A. Bednar declared his apostolic witness that God lives and Jesus is the Christ. “The heavens are not closed,” he said. “God speaks to us — individually and to the world through the authorized leaders of His latter-day kingdom on the earth.”

Elder Neil L. Andersen shared on Facebook, “I know for myself of the living reality of the resurrected Savior. Because of Him, we will live again.

Elder Dale G. Renlund spoke of the shared purpose of modern and ancient Apostles:

“As we posed in front of the Christus statue, with statues of the Apostles Christ called and commissioned during His mortal ministry, I recalled these words of Joseph Smith: ‘The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it.’

“This was the testimony of Apostles in Christ’s day; this is the testimony of Apostles in these latter days.”

Elder Ulisses Soares shared this message: “I stand as a witness, with ancient and modern apostles and prophets, to testify that Jesus is the Christ. He took upon Himself all our pains and sicknesses. He stands ready to help — to help each of us — with every burden.”
