In interviews conducted at the Seminar for New Mission Leaders in Provo, Utah, in June 2023, the Church News asked several Latter-day Saint leaders about their hopes for the next generation of missionaries.
This Church News video, titled “Future Missionaries,” features some of their responses.
This is the generation of Latter-day Saint youth that will “lead this Church” and “lead the Lord’s work” for the next 50 years, said Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and chairman of the Church’s Missionary Executive Council.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson, also of the Twelve, echoed Elder Cook’s sentiment, saying this generation of missionaries will be more successful than any generation before them in leading others to Jesus Christ.
They are “an incalculable and valuable and vital part of the body of Christ,” added Sister Amy A. Wright of the Primary general presidency and a member of the Missionary Executive Council.
Said Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “We hope that each of our rising generation will have the opportunity to lose themselves in the service of the Lord in a way that allows them to find their best self.”
Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, who was serving as Young Women general president at the time of the interviews, narrates the video. “These young people are truly among the best the Lord has ever sent,” she said.
