President Russell M. Nelson marvels on his 100th New Year’s Day

In New Year’s Day social media post, he invites individuals to ‘marvel and rejoice’ at Heavenly Father’s plan

On the first day of 2024, Church President Russell M. Nelson shared some of what he marvels at in the world today and invited individuals to “marvel and rejoice” at Heavenly Father’s plan.

In a social media post, President Nelson said he marvels at some of what men and women have accomplished, but he said those accomplishments are small in comparison to God’s creations.

“Years ago, Sister Nelson and I visited Machu Picchu high in the mountains of Peru. We marveled at what we experienced.

“While we marvel at the accomplishments of men and women, all of that pales when compared with the creations and works of our loving Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.”

President Nelson said he marvels at the miracles of the Savior’s birth, life, ministry and mission, as well as those miracles that allowed the Prophet Joseph Smith to fulfill his role in the Restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Church announced in 2023 that it has grown to have more than 17 million members, and President Nelson said he marvels at the faith of Latter-day Saints across the globe.

President Nelson also expressed gratitude for the eternal nature of families.

“I marvel at our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness and rejoice that families truly can be together forever,” he said.

President Nelson concluded with an invitation similar to what he expressed in October’s general conference when he invited listeners to “think celestial.”

“May we strive this new year to marvel and rejoice at the privileges and opportunities our Father in Heaven and our Redeemer Jesus Christ provide,” he wrote.
